3+3+3 Launch Offer for New Bobcat T110 Tracked Loader
To support the first showing of the new 2.3 tonne Bobcat T110 compact tracked loader at the 2009 Saltex Exhibition, Bobcat has launched an attractive launch package to go with the machine, combining three years’ free finance, three years’ free warranty and three years’ free service. Available for a very limited period, the unique 3+3+3 launch offer complements all the features and benefits that are already built into the T110 as standard and cannot be found on other loaders of this compact size.
At just 1.2 m wide and less than 2.3 m long without attachment, the compactness and transportability of the new T110 is matched by high performance in all types of weather and ground conditions. Not only can the T110 work the whole year round, the durability and serviceability of the machine ensure the same high performance year after year in arduous environments. The operator cab is equipped as standard with a front door with windshield wiper and side windows, ensuring enhanced comfort when working in inclement conditions. The top and rear windows can easily be removed without tools. A heated cab is available as an option.
Driven by a four cylinder, 31.2 kW Kubota V2403 naturally aspirated diesel engine running at 2200 rpm, the T110 offers a rated operating capacity of 505 kg (ISO 14397-1) and a tipping load of 1443 kg. A hydraulic flow of 52.2 l/min on the T110 enables fast bucket rollback/dump and other workgroup functions, and also ensures the T110 is an excellent tool carrier for the more than 20 different attachments designed for use with this machine.
Equipped with 250 mm wide rubber tracks, the T110 has a low ground pressure of only 0.32 kg/cm² (31.7 kPa). The tracks provide superior traction and flotation on soft and wet surfaces as well as superior stability for work on slopes, maximising pushing force and lifting capacity and optimising work with heavier attachments. Capable of working throughout all four seasons, the T110 can travel easily over roads, pavements, and pedestrian walkways without causing damage. Backed by the new 3+3+3 offer, the T110 should appeal to a wide variety of users in landscaping, equipment rental, forestry, flood defence work, residential and commercial construction, local authorities, agriculture, nurseries, recycling and many other areas.

On Track for SED 2010
More than 40% of 2009 exhibitors have already signed on the dotted line and secured their stand space for SED 2010, which will once again be staged at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby, Northamptonshire. The 44th annual National Event for Construction takes place from Tuesday 18th - Thursday 20th May 2010. The commitment from exhibitors is a reassuring sign that there is still confidence in the construction industry and that SED 2009 was a good year for sales and firm leads despite the tough economic conditions.
SED 2009 exceeded all expectations for Winfield Engineering, the new owners of Red Rhino Crushers, who exhibited for the very first time. Production director Alan Hardisty said, “We were blown away with the interest in our machines – we have made some excellent sales and are still getting calls now as a result of the show. We have already booked our stand for SED 2010 – but we are taking a bigger stand on the showground, not in the undercover pavilion, so we can demonstrate the Red Rhino Crushers which we were unable to do this year. We have a new machine in the pipeline too but unsure it will be ready in time for 2010 – but watch this space!”
Following the cancelation of the CV (Commercial Vehicle) Show, Pickup Tops decided to give SED a whirl for the first time this year. According to the company’s managing director, Jack Broomfield it was a decision that paid off, he said, “We were really happy with SED and did some good business, we have booked our stand for SED 2010 and looking forward to more of the same!”
SED veteran’s Nooteboom have been exhibiting since the mid 80’s and have yet to miss a show since. John Houghton, Nooteboom’s area sales manager said, “We have shown our trailers at SED for many years and will be back again in 2010 flying the Nooteboom flag! Although the show was
considerably smaller this year the visitors were more serious buyers – gone are the days of a ‘day out the office for a bit of a jolly’. Some new business was conducted and we built on existing customer relationships. See you in 2010!”
Other exhibitors who enjoyed a prosperous 2009 show and will be back at SED 2010 include Mace Industries, who reported the best ever show this year, screener and crusher manufacturer Baughans, who were equally as pleased with both the show and their new location! Muck Truck is also on the showground again, as is auger drive unit manufacturer Digga and excavator bucket manufacturer Anross. Dig a Crusher will be making another appearance and Nissan will be back bringing its range of commercial vehicles.
SED has also introduced a new team to drive the show forward into 2010 and beyond. The new line-up comprises publish ing director Trevor Goodman, sales director Tim Porter, web editor Will Mann and senior marketing manager Nikki Lazenby, who will all be on hand to ensure the show reaches its full potential. SED veteran Mark Bresnahan will be back on board for SED 2010 in his new role as operations director, Bresnahan has worked on SED for 35 consecutive years, he said, “I am really pleased to remain involved with the show – doing a job I am really passionate about and working with the SED site team. I also look forward to welcoming both old and new exhibitors – who can all be assured of a well prepared site, a hands- on and helpful site team and a well run event, which exhibitors and visitors have come to expect from the UK’s premier construction show.”

Portable Energy from Seddons
Portable generators are increasing in popularity and used in many varying ways, camping & caravanning, boating, DIY and as a power backup in the home or office and with blackouts like those experienced in the 1970’s predicted, the need may increase significantly this winter. Seddons recognise the importance of this vital piece of equipment and the company has recently grown its range, giving customers an even wider choice of generators that are quiet, smooth-running and yet increasingly more powerful.
Understanding the need for portability, Seddons has added five new lightweight models from SDMO and Pramac to the well-known and respected Honda EU10i and EU20i leisure generator range. The new models, which include SDMO INEO 1000 and 2000, SDMO Booster 1000 and 2000 and the Pramac P1000 Inverter Generator, will be joined very soon by Honda’s newest EU30i portable generator, offering increased power output, but maintaining portability, ease of use and noise efficiency. A key feature of portable generators is ‘Inverter technology’ this gives clean, stable, pure power to safely power all sorts of electronic equipment at home, when travelling or to top up leisure batteries.
The range can all be easily carried around and stored, with integrated handles, balanced feel and tough sculptured casing. This casing is also sound reducing, and will keep the noise output lower than normal speech levels, so wherever the generator is used, you can be confident of minimal disruption. Honda’s unique Eco-Throttle also extends fuel economy further by allowing their generators to idle, speeding up only when there is a demand for more power.
Seddons manufacture and distribute of a full range of equipment, parts and engines from nationally and internationally known manufacturers. Their vast range of generators includes domestic and professional models consisting of not only portable but open framed, multi purpose and expert generators.

A second batch of Volvo ECR88’s for Flannery Hire
Flannery Hire of Castleford, West Yorkshire has taken delivery of a second batch of four Volvo ECR88 Plus midi excavators increasing the product portfolio for its operated and non operated supply business. This professional team highly focused on delivering a bespoke hire and supply service to its clients in the north of England is headed up by two experienced plant men in the guise of sales and marketing director, Pat Flannery and operations director Andrew Gaunt. The mobile plant fleet totalling some 150 items including excavators from 2½ to 46 tonnes, telehandlers, site dumpers and compaction equipment has been augmented by a further delivery of four ECR88 Plus midi excavators supplied by Chippindale Plant - Volvo’s compact equipment dealer for Yorkshire.
“We saw a niche in our market for this size of machine and took our first four ECR88’s last year, moving up a gear from the traditional 5½ tonne model,” explained Pat Flannery. “We find the Volvo ECR88 to be a versatile machine - it’s large enough to load tippers in a timely manner and carry out medium sized groundwork jobs yet small enough and highly manoeuvrable when the need arises. They certainly bridge the gap between the traditional mini excavator and the small 14 tonne sized machine and have become very popular with our customers.”
The Volvo ECR88 Plus is powered by a Volvo 3.4 litre low emission engine producing 57 hp coupled to a load sensing hydraulic system for fast cycle times and smooth control. The machine offers a generous horizontal reach of 7.3 metres and a lift capacity of 960kg at full reach across the carriage. Operator comfort and excellent access to all the service points have added to Flannery Hire’s appreciation of the machine. The ECR88 Plus has a comfortable, spacious cab with a wide uncluttered floor. The instrument panel provides operators with at-a-glance monitoring of all key functions and operator fatigue is reduced through easy-grip, high response joystick control levers. The rubber-mounted cabs reduce whole-body vibration, and external noise minimizing the rigors of the jobsite whilst air conditioning with well positioned vents is a standard feature. All eight machines have been equipped with check valves on the boom cylinders for lifting duties, Volvo immobilizers and vandal guards.
The new additions join a hire fleet which is subject to the highest possible standards set by the team at Flannery Hire which include audited processes and procedures, weekly onsite hire inspections to fulfil safety checks – all administered from a busy, well administered hire desk. Flannery Hire operates from a state of the art facility just off the M62 at Castleford which includes offices, yard space and a fully equipped, environmentally friendly workshop. The hire fleet is further supported by five fully equipped service vehicles. Complimenting the mobile plant fleet is a range of site accommodation, specialised attachments, bunded fuel tanks and ancillary equipment. |
